Not eating
First I want to thank everyone for sharing there ups and downs with us all. I mainly lurk here and read the posts but don't post often myself. I have been having a hard time eating lately. It's not that things aren't agreeing with me because I can eat anything and have never dumped. Although I don't try to pu**** to that point either. Anyway for the last 4 months I have not been wanting to eat anything. Nothing really sounds good. with the exception of chilli. I go all day without eating and when I do eat it's chilli. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
Thanks for listening.

*giggle* Not that I you should go without eating, but I too LOVE chilli and could eat it for any meal! YUM! In fact, I hadn't eaten today yet and had taken my son back to school shopping so by 3 we were getting pretty hungry, I told him he could make a smart healthy choice in eating out so he chose Wendy's and I ate a small cup of chilli.
Just take care of yourself and be healthy!
Are you saying you eat one meal a day? That can't be good for you. You need to be sure your body is getting the nutrition it needs. You should be eating at least 3 times a day, protein, veggies, some fruit, etc. Are you taking your vitamins/minerals, etc.?
If you don't know what you're taking in, I suggest you go to fitday.com (a free program) and enter what you eat. You will see how many calories, how much protein, fat, etc., you are getting.
Anyway, my point is that you should not be skipping meals on a regular basis just because food doesn't sound good to you. Your body needs food to function properly.

I can relate...though, neither of us should be doing it. Here I sit...it's 5:38 PM CST and I've had nothing but my vitamins and meds and 128+ oz. of water.
I have no physical hunger until late afternoon...and then, I usually I want to eat anything/everything not nailed down.
I have SERIOUS eating (not eating) issues. It's not that I'm not hungry; it's that I'm afraid to eat. I seem to be even MORE screwed up after meeting with a therapist this past Monday.

Sherry ... are we walking in the same pair of shoes? I too feel worse after seeing my therapist! and I too have "not eating" issues. I am terribly afraid to eat (especially after a 20 pound gain in 10 months, when the entire YEAR prior to surgery I hadn't gained a pound) ... I also am not hungry, and I do get pains when I eat solid foods (gallbladder? -- yeah, it's "supposed" to come out ... but I've kind of made the pain my "friend", I guess it does help limit my eating).
The thing that makes it even that much worse, is that I frickin "KNOW BETTER" ... but I'm just not listening to myself I guess.

Have you talked to your nutritionist or surgeon about this? I am a bit worried about you. Some WLS patients do develop anorexia. We can develop a fear and obsession about eating, regaining the weight and certainly most of us have a distorted body image. I know I have a tendency to be a bit of a zealot and a have to be very conscious of what I am eating every day. On the flip side a friend of mine lost her joy of eating after surgery; eating became such a drudge that it was easier to not eat. Are you still losing or maintaining? It may be a good time to get your blood work done to be sure you are not becoming deficient.
Warmly, Christine
Thank you all for your reply's.
Christy,
I am still losing about 1.5lbs a week which is good. I feel like eating is a battle I deal with every day. Nothing sounds good. I try different things and nothing really tastes good either. I think I just need to get back on my Isopure for a while. I have not had any bloodwork done in a few months. I never thought not eating would be an issue. LOL.
Ohwell I still feel blessed every day that I have been given this tool. I just have to eat eat eat.Easier said then done.
Thanks again and God Bless.
