A Comment Made?

It's just another passive agressive comment from an overweight or MO person. I think she meant it the way you took it, but just ignore it. Nobody but a few people in my life are worth getting upset over! Michelle

I have heard it many times myself. One person is about 50 pounds overweight & said she was going to gain 50 so she could have surgery. I educated her. Many insurance companies require a 5 year history of morbid obesity to have surgery. So, she would have to gain 50 pounds, wait 5 years and then hope her insurance company still covers it by then. then the average WLS person loses about 60% of their excess weight. then rebounds 10%. so, that would leave her at about 50 pounds over weight. OH wait, isn't that where you are now? and wls with malbsorption means you have to take supplements for the rest of your life, risk malnutriton, increase your risk of osteoporosis, as well as probably having dumping sundrome, 20 % chance of a hernia., give up margaritas for life, among too many other issues to list. Not to mention the number of people with significant regain and now she would probably have made a lot of new fat cells in the process of deliberately becoming morbidly obese that will be begging and sceaming to plump back up again. might end up way heavier thn she is now and stuck with it. SOUNDS LIKE AND EASY WAY OUT TO ME.

The fact that you're asking HOW you should take that comment just serves as a reminder that we CHOOSE how we feel - other people don't MAKE us feel one way or another. Since the choice is yours, I say choose to NOT be offended and just take it as a compliment. Furthermore, YOU know you've done a fabulous job and tons of hard work, so even if she DID mean it as an insult (which I doubt), who cares - that doesn't make your accomplishment any less meaningful! Don't lose sleep over it. You look fantastic!
