Hi Everyone, I know this issue has been discussed before but I never paid much attention as it was never really a problem for me. But lately...... OMG do I have horrible gas! My poor family is about to dis-own me, lol. Has anyone figured out what causes this terrible gas and/or found a solution. I am usually fine all day then about 7pm it hits and goes on untill I fall asleep. Thanks, Melissa

For me its those nasty white carbs.....pototoes noodles, and breads. I limit them big time....unless of course I want the house to myself then I eat them!

Yep, seems to be the "bad carbs" for me too...My friend's doc (friend had WLS) told her it had something to do with the carbs going through our system (made sense to me)..Seems like if I eat pasta, chips, and foods like that - give me horrible gas all afternoon....Does not seem to be too bad if I have been water loading, eating protein (all the things I am "supposed" to do)....Some people do have gas with the green veggies, broccoli, lots of lettuce.... So, not lots of advice, just that this happens to some of us....if you find a solution, let me in on it.. DeAnna

Hey Melissa, I am in the very same boat with you. I take Gas X almost on a daily basis. Like you I do great during the day with zero to none then after about 4 or 5 pm it starts and continues till bedtime. Ive had loads of gas every since surgery, I dont understand it. I can just feel it churning in my stomach. With me it doesnt matter what I eat, I have it. I do notice when that when I eat carby foods it is worse and the smell is worse as well(I know TMI). I dont know what Id do without my Gas X! Candy

I sincerely wish that I had an answer to this problem, I do not, but thought if you heard from someone else with the same issue it might make you feel better. Sometimes my husband actually gets mad, which makes me laugh, which makes him madder. It is seriously embarassing and I read someone uses Gas X on this thread and now I will try that too. I will also limit the bad carbs and see if it tones it down. I'm with you! Josie

Thank you all so much for responding and being so honest...I am glad I am not alone. I recently had a major illness and lost alot of weight could not eat for weeks, BUT NOW it seems like I can eat everything and since I am wanting to put back on some weight I have not been as careful w/my choices. I am going to take all of your advise, cut back on the 'bad' carbs and try some gas x. Sometimes this a funny problem as the gas does not cause me any physical discomfort and my families reaction is so entertaining. But I am concerned that I would have this problem while not just in the company of my husband and kids, talk about embarrassing , lol. You all are great! Thanks again Melissa

Melissa, My Dietitian told me to try BEANO and boy...it saved the day! I had terrible gas that seemed to come from carbs and when I ate ice cream, look out! I am 2 1/2 years out and still occassionaly have a problem with gas. **** cream still does this to me) BEANO is an herb and you take 2-3 pills BEFORE you eat anything. It really does help. I was a skepti****il I tried it. You can buy it almost anywhere. Honest....try it and I think you will be much happier as will your entire family!

If you find the gas-x doesn't work...it didnt for me, try a probiotic. It's like the concept of eatting yogurt to fend off a yeast infection. The bacteria(s) in the probiotic help to balance the monsters and the smell. Mind you it does not eliminate the churning or the end product....that's bad carbs, sugars, raw veggies, and not fully disgested food being processed. If nothing else makes you take smaller bites and chew thoroughly...overworked intestines and toxic gas might good luck M
