One reason I found I could eat more 4 yrs post op
I too have noticed last 6 months how much I could eat, I have gained weight too and was quite disgusted with myself. I got back on this web site for information and encouragement and one of the first posts I read discussed drinking liquids with meals. I had totally blocked that out. I knew it but have been drinking tea, diet soda or water with my meals. The last 2 days I did not drink with meals, ate proteins first and could not eat half as much and felt full. Try it if you have been drinking....Renee'
That is exactly what I have done today, and am AMAZED at how full I am and what smaller amount I ate! So, I will be doing this DAILY now, also water loading, drinking up to about 15 minutes before I ate, and then not for 30 min to 1 hour after....Loaded up on protein mostly today....I am so glad I came here for those reminders, and the support from the GRADS. DeAnna.
I don't drink anything with my meals I never did but yet I feel I can eat more than I should. Almost as much as I did before surgary. I too have gain weight but can still fit into my new clothes and the doctor is still please with my progress even though I am not. My husband is getting ready to have the surgary the first week of October
I am hoping we can be support to each other.

My Doctor told me that alot of people regain about 20% of the lost weight, I have gained that. His goal for me was 200. I got down to 181. I was wearing sz 12 then but now my 14's are tight and 16 loose. I want to get back to at least 185. I was very happy and felt good at that weight. I just have to work out and eat a little less. It will happen.....Thanks Renee'
Renee,
You and I are almost the same. I was 300 when I had my surgery on January 26, 2004. I went down to about 178 and am back up to 200. I went from a size 12 and now wear a 14-16. I am not unhappy with where I am but would like to get down to at least 160 and stay there.
I just read where everyone talked about the drinking with meals. I too forgot this and drink all the time while eating. I am going to change this and see what happens. I actually was just thinking of going on the atkins diet to give myself a boost to get going again but if the water make a difference, I'd rather do that.
This is not as easy as a lot of people think, including myself and its been 2 1/2 years!!

I am 5 years post op and am in the same boat. I went from 265 down to 165 and now I'm back up to 185. I was in a size 10 and now my 12s are are tight. I wear scrubs to work every day and I've been in a medium for quite some time, but the pants are super tight. I recently started a super charged work out plan and my pants are getting tighter, it's driving me nuts. And of course I haven't lost a pound! I don't drink with meals and I do enjoy high protien; however, I LOVE non sugar carbs...breads, crackers, pretzels, those fat free chips. MMMMMM!
It's a constant battle
