Hi everyone. I am 3 years out and the last 8mos I have been able to eat more and now I am struggling. Would anyone out there give me a run down of an average day with your food intake. I am hoping to hear from someone 3 or more years out.

I am 19 months post-op and follow a 1200 calorie / day diet. I also include one protein shake in my routine. My weakness is coffee. I have 2-3 each day, with cream and sweetner. Today's menu: B - Coffee & Protein shake S - 1 cup watermelon chunks (& another coffee, LOL) L - Lemon pepper tuna on two wasa crispbreads S - s/f yogurt (& another coffee, LOL) D - 1 cup steamed green beans with 4 oz BBQ steak S - s/f popsicle or s/f yogurt or small cut-up apple (it varies) Water - 6 x 16oz bottles throughout the day. Vitamins - B12, 2 Multi, 3 Calcium I use Fitday.com to track intake and exercise. I walk 20 minutes, 3 times a day. To the train station, home from the station and on my lunch break. I also do cardio on my treadmill / elliptical and stationary bike at home. Best wishes for much success. Karen G

I have to stay around 1,000 calories a day to maintain my weight. I think the figure is different for each person because we all have different metabolisms. I hear some on the board talk about maintaining on 2,500 calories a day. I only wish that could be me. I'm 29 months out and agree it gets harder as we get further out. I find six small meals a day works best for me. My surgeon says 3 meals, 1 snack but I feel deprived when I do it his way. My way I always know I can eat again in a few hours. Mind you snacks are something like 10 almonds, apple, etc. The main meals are often protein only, but sometimes will include a low carb veggie. Thankfully we have been given this wonderful tool which I find still fills up quickly on dense protein like chicken, pork loin, steak. Average day: B- 2 slices bacon S- 10 almonds L- 4 oz broiled chicken S- Small apple D- 4 oz pork loin, 1/4 cup string beans S- 2 sticks sugar free popcicle Best of luck for your continued success.

Do you really watch your carb intake? I think that is my main problem right now. I incorporated too many carbs back in my diet. What is the general percentage they want us to have for Carbs? Do you know?

I am near my 4 year anniversary and maintianing very well. on a daily basis I eat 6 meals a day All totalled I generally eat 1500-1700 cals a day at least 6 oz meat, fish, or chicken 3 dairy servings of yogurt, cheese , skim milk 2-3 veggies 2 fruits and 1 is always a banana 2-3 servings whole grain breads or cereals. a daily fudgecicle or SF ice cream., sf pudding or jello w/ cool whip an occasional real cookie on 1500 cals a day, (which I maintain nicely at) the calorie ratio recommended to me as a person who works out regularly 4-6 times a week for at least an hour each time - 40% carbs (4 calories /gram) 30% protein (4 calories /gram) 30% fats (9calories /gram) that is 150 grams of carbs, 112.5 grams of protein, and 50 grams of fat. I amy not hit exactly every day, but my over all balance is right in there.
