Can anyone recommend a good appetite suppressant? I'm 2+ years post op and have recently noticed the urge to want to eat more and more often . . . anyone else having this problem? Thanks! Nancy Jo

I am 28 months post op and in the same boat. I just recv. Hoodia Gordanii Plus (rated #1 as most effective) in the mail today. I thought I would try it because it doesn't have anything weird in it. I will let you know hoe it works. If you are interested, it must be the plus.

Nancy Jo, are you eating "white" carbs (bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, etc.)? When I eat these, I crave more and more of them. ARe you undergoing stress? I find in times like these, I want to eat more often (i.e., head hunger). I see a psychologist for this. I don't believe appetite suppressants are the answer. Just my humble opinion. Connie -147#

I have used relacore for help with this....it seems to help when I can remember to take it. LOL. I am a stress eater so mellowing me out is the best thing to do to kick the appetite growth! I never knew that about myself before. I thought I was more the eat when I am bored person or just the person who ate all the time....You understand right. Hope you find something to help. I do know when I cut down on carbs its a bit easier to control the hunger. Debbie

any appetite suppressant that worked well for you preop should work well now. OOPs! if they had worked well preop - would you have had surgery? I am almost 4 years out and it has taken me a while to get the full routine down, but I am better than ever and always trying to improve on it. My best appetite suppressant is eating properly, 6 meals a day. avoiding artificially sweetened foods and beverages, and exercising 4-6 times a week, and getting enough sleep. Good self care. It is a lot more time consuming and takes a lot more commitment than a pill. Since you made the BIG committment of having surgery I know you can do the rest of it. Hang in there and remember what made you successful in the first place HUGS!

Water and other drinks help immensly. Sometimes we mistake thirst for hunger. So, drink, drink, drink!!! Even try some hot drinks with a lil' caffeine, coffee, tea or if your doc says caffeine is a no-no, have some nice hot chicken broth or treat youself to a cup of s/f hot cocoa. Also, I have found that chewing s/f gum helps with "head hunger" since it gives my mouth something to do. Be careful not to swallow, though. Good luck!

Just wanted to say as someone who is preop its interesting to read this. On the main board you mostly see great posts then come over here and can see what it is like in the long hall. I must ask...despite gain a little...was it worth even if you are at that cool number on the scale? And as to diet pills may i recommend staying away from phentermine as i ended up with some minor reflux heart problems with that...and also had the experience from several when i stopped them that i had horrible rebound symtoms like i could not control my hunger which actually put 20 extra pounds on me and put me in the range to have surgery..
