I eat at least 6 small meals a day, no matter what. It helps prevent me getting so hungry that I eat wrong. getting enough sleep also helps. getting over tired is a huge eating trigger for me. I sometimes wonder if the evening eaters are getting enough sleep and going to bed early enough. I have struggled mightily with many issues with foods post op. It is taking time to figure it out and some of the "common wisdom" just doesn't pan out for me. if I don't eat my 6 meals, if I get over tiired, miss my exercise, drink diet pop, eat sugar free crappola, I am starving. too many artificially sweetend anything makes me crave more. It is interesting that i read that people who eat artificially sweetened as opposed to real sugar end up taking in more calories. the same happened even with animals. ones fed fake sweeteners lost their "calorie intake" control. take time to carry a small notebook with you and log every single bite and sip that goes in as it goes in, don't wait until later or it wont be accurate. then anylize it. what are you eating and what is the balance of nutrients? are you eating enough to meet your body's needs? . sometimes hunger is from cravings caused by poor choices, hormones, etc, but sometimes it is your body calling for appropriate nutrients to meet its needs. sometimes it is because someone is trying to fool mother nature and be 10 - 15 - 20 or more pounds under their bodies set natural wieght, and is under eating to meet that goal . I have gotten a lot of help from the book "how much does your soul weigh?" by Dorie Mccubbery.
