Some of you know the problem that my wife, Georgina has been having. She has been in severe pain with nausea for the last 2 weeks. I had to leave work on night shift last week to take her to the ER. They diagnosed her with pancreatitis and told her to stay on clear liquids for 2 days. This seemed to help a bit, but the pain returned as soon as she started eating again and the vomiting got worse. (BTW she and I both are close to 3 years out) She called our surgeon on Monday and he made an appt, for her on Wednesday. He also ordered several test to do here in town, all showing nothing. Due to her strong work ethic and the fact that we have such busy lives ahe decided to live with the pain untill her Appt. yesterday. To make a long story short, He did exploratory surgery this morning and found a terrible internal hernia. Her entire lower bowl was through the Hernia and had started to become raw from rubbing against the outer wall of her abdomen. THe Dr said she almost waited too late and that if a hole had been rubbed into the intestine then she would have been in big big trouble. I was not able to travel with here because I had to stay with the kids and I had to work, I feel terrible about being here while she is there (Alabama). Her sister is with her there. I thank God that the Dr found this in time. Well, the warning here is that if you are in pain or something is just not right, Don't wait untill you cant stand it any more, Go to see the Dr ASAP. I could have lost my lovely Wife of 18 years just because we both thought, "Oh it will get better soon" Thanks to all of you who have been praying and encouraging us over the last 2 weeks. She should be home on Saturday and I can not wait to see her. Be Warned! Have things checked out in a hurry when there are problems, Please. Yall have a good one and God bless you all. Thanks for letting me vent here. George

I am glad to hear that your wife is doing better and that they caught this in time. I pray that she will be okay as the rest of your family. I am curious as how they determined she had the internal hernia? My brief history will explain why: I had Lap RYN in 2000, in 6/05 had surgery for small bowel obstruction due to adhesions while 24 weeks pregnant, after this developed two bouts of pancreatitis was hospitalized for all three things a total of 3 weeks, after baby delivered I developed a large hernia on the incision from the obstruction surgery, I had this repaired and again developed pancreatitis and was hospitalized for 2 weeks. I was released 11/30/05. I did okay for a while but never have been out of pain since, was hospitalized in 5/06 and told nothing was wrong, no obstructions, no pancreatistis; referred to pain management. The surgeon wants me to go back to my original surgeon who did the WLS to see if I have an internal hernia; but no one seems to be able to tell me how they determine it. All the test, CT's, blood, X-Rays show nothing, but I constantly feel pain......... Any help would be wonderful. Thanks Kristen
