Please help. I know you are not all docs and I should call my doc and I will tomorrow. First let me tell you what it is not. Gallbladder, pregnancy or appendix. I had open rny 8-04, open incisional hernia repair 5-06. I had a bowel blockage coming out of surgery in 04. Thats my background. Today around 1 p.m. I noticed a pain right in the middle of my stomach, right where my belly button is. It feels like it tightens then releases. It is making me nauseaous. I thought at first maybe it was gas pains really low, but that doesnt seem to be the problem. I got off work at 5 and I went and took a bowel cleanser. I dont think I am constipatied because I went yesterday. But you know if I ened up at the e.r. that would be one of the first things they would think. Gas or constipation. I am just trying to head off the obvious. My local e.r. is in small town usa, they let people die over there. I know there is not a baratirc surgeon at all in my town. I will go there as a last resort though. Has anyone had severe pain right at the belly button that lasted longer than 5 hours? If so what was it? P.S. no vommitting, fever, not dehydrated took in my 100 fluids today. i have not ate since the pain started. Thanks for any help that you may be able to give. Angie

I have had stomach [ain off and on for month...I have an endoscopy scheduled on July 18th...I bet I have a ulcer. The pain comes and goes...no rhyme or reason for it. I just know it hurts. My gastro Dr just scheduled it....with one phone call.....never even went to the Dr. He knows me well......He had to do colonscopy on me like 12 months ago....since was so constipated. Several people i know have ulcers after RNY. Sandy

Hi Charlie, It helps to know I am not alone in this pain. I am starting to feel better. It is not gallstones, I dont have my gallbladder any more.

I too and alot of others have this pain...mine is above the belly button then goes around to my back. Bad pain! I have no gallbladder...i have had a ct scan, colonoscopy, and edoscopy and mri...all of which are normal. I have found if i lay in fetal position on my right side the pain will go away in a couple minutes. Otherwise it gets worse and worse. I am not having pain right now. So am waiting to hear what some of you find out. My wls dr said it could be an internal hernia or the Superior Mesanteric Artery Syndrome. Which is cause from looseing alot of weight in a short amout of time the artery curves around the intestine and cuts it off causeing pain. Ill be anxioux to know what everyone hears keep me posted. Seems alot of us are haveing this same pain. Cha

Hi there Cha, I have never heard of the syndrome before. When I started researching what this pain could be, the one thing that kept coming up was internal hernia. I wonder how that is diagnosed. From what I have read, alot people had one but it did not show up on any test.....

You're right in saying you need to contact your doctor. I'd call my wls surgeon since they are more familar with problems related to wls. I'd start with a phone call if you live some distance away. He might be able to have test done locally before you ever go to visit him. My guess from reading about other people's problems would be a hernia, scar tissue wrapping around an intestine or ulcer. Best of luck in finding a quick solution to your problem.

I am having pain also that goes from the front to my back. The pain causes me to bend over. I know it;s not my gall bladder because that's been removed years before my surgery. It feels like a lot of gas. I've had an endoscopy a month ago and everything was fine. I'm at a loss. What can this be? My doctor thinks its stress. I don' think so. Margaret
