grazing
Hello everyone,
Over the last few months I have taken a long period of time to eat my lunch. It is 2:27 pm and I am still picking at it and I got my lunch at 12:20 today. It is a small salad w/protein that does not amount to anything, but... I am so busy at work that I don't have a chance to eat all at once. Shame on me for not getting away from my desk and taking at least 20 minutes for myself.
Just tlooking for an opinion, is this grazing???
Thanks
It is my opinion that grazing is eating food that you normally wouldn't eat or eating foods in addition to your normal meals and snacks. If I plan on eating a sandwich for lunch and I eat half now and half an hour later, I still only ate one sandwich. Grazing would be adding a handful of cashews, a few m & m's or other suchs foods (even healthy foods) to the sandwich.
It depends on whether or not you consume more calories by this behavior or if it would still be the same amount. You're far enough post-op that you have most likely instilled your eating behavior and know what is 'too much'.
I *think* that technically, it would be grazing...but, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I'm thinking along the same lines. Is this salad what you could normally eat in 15-20min? If so, you're not taking in any extra calories by eating it over a longer period of time. If, however, you're eating "extra stuff" and picking at it all day long, that's what I consider grazing.
