Hiya, folks. Normally I'm not a big forum user, but yesterday I got a message from the site telling me to update my profile on my three-year surgiversary, so I did some poking around and found myself here. And in reading some of the posts, I have to say that I don't feel quite so bad now. lol I know that it's rather common to have some weight gainback after a certain amount of time, as our bodies get used to what we've done to them and adapt. I'm happy to report that in the three years since I began this journey, I've lost 180 pounds and only gained back twelve. Pretty good, eh? I just try to remember the basics -- avoid the bad carbs (because they are teh devil), drink my water, get in my protein, and exercise as much as I can. That last part is the hardest for me, I think, since my gym is far away and there's not much room at home for me to do home exercises. These are excuses, I know, but they're true nonetheless. Still, I'm attempting to get back to a normal exercise regimen, because I've got fat still to burn! Anyway, I just want to continuing good luck and good health to all of us; I hope everyone's journey through weight loss and finding a healthy lifestyle continues!

Tiffany, You've done a super job in your 3 years post-op! The weight you're battling now seems to be pretty typical. I get some comfort from reading how most all of us grads struggle with carbs, portions, and exercise; however, I also get encouragement from some who have been really successful. It helps me to know that we all have this common experience and know what it's like to "fight the good fight"! I have about a 5-lb. leeway I give myself, but for me it takes real vigilance, as I don't dump on anything. If I weren't pretty faithful to working out &/or walking, I'd be in trouble. We have something in common; I'm a (former) English teacher. I taught on the h.s. level for 17 years and have been a h.s. counselor for the past 11 years. I never was a big fan of E. A. Poe, though! However, lots of my students liked his stories, so I tried to do him justice! Thanks for your update! Jo 295/150-155 (at goal)

Happy Anniversary! The evil weight gainback freaked me out too, until I came back to OH and found out I wasn't alone. Tracy A.
