What's for breakfast?
Hi Grads,
I'm 1yr 8 mos out and looking for meal options for the am. I currently have been eating 3/4 c of Kashi Go Lean with 12 grams of soy protien.
I am not looking to cook eggs, etc. More something quick or I can get together the night before.
Just looking for ideas, in a rut right now for breakfast. :-l
Sometimes I do try peanut butter on toast.
Thanks for reading.

Tammy,
I'm not too imaginative in the a.m. cause I don't like to take the time; however, I absolutely LOVE this pancake recipe, which I got here on the board. You can make it the night before.
Put in blender (actually, I just use a hand mixer):
1/3 c. dry oatmeal (either quick or regular)
1 egg
heaping Tbls. of cottage cheese
a dash of milk (just so it's not too thick to pour--maybe 1-2 T.)
cinnamon & vanilla to taste
about a packet of Splenda if desired
SF syrup or fruit or whatever you want to top it with
I use a small fry pan coated w/ Pam. Pour it all in for just one pancake.
Here are the stats: (I use low-fat cott. cheese and skim milk.)
215 cals; 23 carbs; 13 protein
Otherwise, I just have oatmeal most days. I usually top it with blueberries, strawberries, whatever. I also chop up a handful of almonds and add. I make it really easy--I use the Weight Control packets or the lower sugar ones--dump in some milk and micro for about 1 1/2 minutes. So it's pretty fast & easy.
I'll be looking for other people's ideas!

I cook on the weekend for my breakfast. I make a frittata type thing. I use 4 eggs (you can use more) cheese, and veggies (I sometimes cook some turkey sausage and throw it in) I spray a glass baking dish with pam and mix it all together and throw it in the pan and bake at 325 for about 35 minutes. You can also put it in muffin tins. I don't do well with microwaved food so i take the peice out when i wake up and by the time I am showered and heading out to work its room temp and tastes great
I eat on the run, 5 days a wee****ep oatmeal, protein powders, cottage cheese, beef jerky, cinnamon, splenda and wasa crispbreads at my office. I usually start the day with a protein drink, followed by either:
1) Oatmeal with protein powder, cinnamon & splenda
2) Cottage cheese with cinnamon & splenda (warmed and eaten on a crispbread)
3) Piece of beef jerky
I don't go out to eat and lunch is usually one of the above with a peice of fresh fruit. Right now, watermelon chunks or strawberries are my favs. On the weekends, I will eat eggs or a flaxseed bagel with swiss cheese on it.

Hello Karen...I'm 4 years out and am having a time trying to get past the yogurt and protein breakfast bars!! I'm sick of eggs!! Tried fritata's and casseroles but can't hardly stand the smell of anything like eggs...What kind of protein powder do you use? Years ago I used a powder called pro-cel and it was tasteless and odorless and dissolved instantly in or on anything...Do you know of this product? would be interested to know what you prefer!! Thanks and keep up the good work!!

My fav protein powder is Cytosport Vanilla Bean. I think it tastes much like a vanilla milkshake. I also use the Protein Delite Vanilla Very Berry.
I have even made s/f pudding and s/f oatmeal muffins with the Vanilla Bean flavoured protein powder. Hmmm Hmmm
I don't know the pro-cel product, but then again, it's not surprising as the selection of protein powders in Canada is not as extensive as in the States.
Best wishes,
Karen
I have taken to hardboiling a large carton of eggs and keeping them in the frige. They make easy grab foods when a snack attach happens. I toss the yellow, and eat 2-3 egg whites....no cholesteral, 18 calories per egg white compared to 70 w/ the yolk. I also buy tyson already cooked and cut chicken bags, cause I am lazy and don't cook. I also do cottage cheese or ricotta cheese mixed with splenda and sf davinci syrup, black cherry is the flavor of the month. Or yogurt, or a protein drink and an apple. I am a 3rd shifter so breakfast for me is usually at 8pm when I wake up...so 3 ounces of chicken with a piece of fat free cheese and a table spoon of spagetti sauce nuked is just as good a breakfast meal as a lunch or dinner.
