Hey everyone! I seem to be on a bona-fide plateau. I know it was bound to happen. I've been bouncing between 168-178 since mid-May - almost two months. I've changed up the food, changed up the exercise, upped the water and protein, but am still fluctuating. I know everyone goes through this after about a year out, so I am not too concerned. A bit frustrated, yes, but not worried that I have stopped losing. Although, I would like a bit of reassurance that this has happened to others and that their weight loss restarted at some point. Has anyone else going through this or been through this? Any advice? Hugs, Tracy 303/bouncing between 168-178/135

Tracy, let me say what a great job you have done in just 1 short year. Congratulations!!! Let me also tell you what i experinced beginning at a year out. i am currently 16 months out and minus 176lbs. I started at 326 and now weigh 150. At exactly 1 year out i weighed 162 and then my weight loss really....really...really slowed. It has taken me 4 months to lose 12 lbs. I have worked much harder then before. I changed up the excerise, upped the intensity and increased calories per my NUT. Let me tell you, increasing calories was a mistake for me. I need low calories to lose, about 800-1000 more then that and i stall. 1 year 3/2/06 162lbs 3/31 157 4/20 156 5/1 153.4 5/10 154 6/1 152 6/4 150.4 7/2 150.2 This is how my weight has been doing the last few months. No great words of wisdom, just keep doing what you have been doing. I have come to realize that i just can't do anything other than do what i have been instructed to do. Good luck to you, I know we can do it. Melinda

PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN. Everytime I need to take off some or when I was in one of thoses horriable plateaus, I would go back to protein shakes in the morning and lean protein and green veggies for the rest of the day. It usually works for me. good luck, Terri

Hi Tracy. For me, things definitely slowed down around 1yr out. I lost 164lbs in the first year so I went from 328lbs 164lbs~half the size I used to be. My dr's goal for me was 165lbs and my personal goal is 150lbs. Over the next following months I would lose a pound here and there and I'm currently 152lbs~I'm very happy with where I am even though I've not made it to 150lbs. So that's another 12lbs lost and that happened in about 3mths I'd say~my profile tells exactly when I lost it. I've been just working on maintaining for the past few months. I think it depends on how far from goal you are too~I didn't have much left to lose so it would be natural for me to slow down. Also at around 1yr I found I could eat ALOT more so I really had to concentrate on the rules~push protein firs****er water water, exercise. I find if I don't follow "the rules", I can put a pound or 2 back on easily. Then its back to the basics for me and those pounds bounce right back off~thank goodness! I don't think you're done. Maybe your body is just taking a break and things will pick back up. It sounds like you're doing all the right things so just keep doing what you're doing and you'll see results soon! I hear ya! I'm in the same boat. I'm currently walking/jogging about 30-35 miles a week, I watch what I eat and 95%+ of the time I eat what I'm supposed to and I fluctuate between 159-163. It's very frustrating to try to lose these last 20 lbs! I don't know what more to do but the stick with what I'm doing. I've also tried to change what I do/eat/drink and so far nothing has helped. I also worry that I won't be able to lose any more. Then I remember thinking the same thing when I was 100 lbs heavier and hit my first stall. So, as frustrating as it is, I stick with it and hope that the loss will start soon. I guess that's all we can do. By the way, you've done great and I know you will make it! Linda
