Hi there, I am almost 5 weeks out from the DS Surgery and can't poop! The first 3 &1/2 weeks, while on a liquid diet, all I did was poop (Diarrhea) and now that I'm on some solid food, NOTHING!!! Any advice?

Amy, *sorry to drop this in this thread......pardon? Clicking on the link gives me- "An error has occurred! We're sorry, but an error occurred while loading your requested page. But not for the last 8 days or so. Is there something up? I haven't been getting links to work at all lately.... Just wondering... Best Wishes- Dx

Thanks I've fixed this on my end. It seem this is a glitch and I've reported it, how you can make sure the link will be clickable is after the end put like 3 or 4 spaces and it should make it a link. Now ones with member id#'s won't let you do that for some reason. I hope they get that fixed soon. Amy

Try ground flaxseed. I add it to oatmeal or cottage cheese, for extra fibre and it helps keep me regular. I think I first read about it's benefits on Tooter's site..."bariatricbytes". It really does work. Karen G

You probably need to talk to your surgeon about the problem and get his recommendations. I had a problem with constipation before surgery that got much worse after the surgery. My surgeon suggested 2 stool softners daily plus when necessary take Senokot which is a natural laxative. I find I have to take 4 Senokot and sometimes for two days in a row when things get really stopped up. Overall his solution has worked out fine for me. I seldom have to take the Senokot since I've started using the stool softners. Best of luck to you.

Hey Kellie, I am 1 yr post-op...but like you, had major bm problems in the beginning. I got to the point of going 10-11 days without one. The surgeon's office was VERY upset that I was letting it go that long. There are complications that can occur for that much back up...so take it seriously and get it under control. Once they gave me the med to make me actually go (and it was painful-sorry) the surgeon had me take a over the counter lax twice a week to help keep it regular...to kind of try to kick start the system again. It worked...that along with making sure that you get in the fluid that you need too. I only needed the lax for about a month then my body reconfigured that function and I've been good since. I think I only needed it twice since then. Good luck! There is hope at the end of the tunnel! Laurie
