I have to admit, some of thrill vanishes when it takes an hour to make something special and either it doesn't sit well or I'm full after 3 or 4 bites of it lol. That bites! maybe that's my problem...nah cause even the easy good things don't appeal to me. I'm really leaning hard towards boredom. Ugh. Thanks for the food for thought! (((HUGS))) and On 186!!!

Hi Toots, I haven't pinpointed why I have those days either, where food just doesn't interest me at all, I have to make myself eat. I tend to get bored easily with choices (except cheese ). I'm not a creative cook at all. Coffee ---hmmmm I know I drink to much, yep prefer coffee to food, who would of ever thought. Then again there are those days I feel like I could eat all day *sigh* Dana

Can I ever relate! At 2.5ish years out I had to force myself to FUEL... didn't want to cook, didn't want to purchase food, didn't want to deal with it much at all. For awhile I thought it was just "too much effort". Wow what a change from having a "lust affair" with it most of my life... love/hate/abuse/indulge/prohibit/over-indulge/over-prohibit/etc... I'd drink my sugar free lattes (homemade) all day long and force myself to eat cheese sticks, & hi complex carbs - just to fuel. Ate out alot - mostly because my husband & teenage son balked at "no dinner"!!! Looking back, maybe it was a necessary adjustment period... a time when my head re-thunk the "hold" food had over me. I actually became "numb" to food. Make sense? During that time my pouch also seemed quite sensitive to foods , so why bother upsetting her? Now, at almost 5 years post, I, again, enjoy cooking. I'm more creative w/ meal prep --- I've learned to cook & taste w/o filling up PRIOR to meal-time --- I've learned alot. I do believe that mostly I'm in a "healthy" place mentally re: food. Some days I still have a sensitive pouch. Other days she's ravenous. My weight has remained stable 159-161 for over a year and within a 5 pound range over 2 years now. How amazing that this far out you still know "full". I can remember YEARS of either HUNGRY ANIMAL or STUFFED. I never knew "full".. always went right past it! Isn't that an amazing place to be? I'd say, "what gives" is this: this is a life-long journey, for certain! We learn, we shift, we change, we grow... we deal, but overall we LIVE... Here's to life!

I almost always have an appetite, but do get bored with the same old stuff. then it is time to get a new cookbook from the library for inspiration. Just picked up the south beach 30 minute cookbook and found some different type stuff. I was actually having the oppisite problem as you , I was ravenous all the time, I would eat and an hour later was back to starving wolf mode. around that time I got a feeling of a lump in my throat. Went to dr about the weird feeling in my throat, thinking it was something from my plastic surgery intubation and was diagnosed with reflux.... got a seciond opinion and yup, reflux. On nexium and with in a couple weeks my appetite was normal again. I'm thinking it was the reflux or an ulcer giving me the "hungry " feeling. apparently that can be a sign of an ulcer. could you have something going on in your pouch? maybe a quick check up with you Dr is in order.

hmm I really don't think there's anything wrong with the pouch....I 'listen' to it a lo****ching for signs, because it DOES worry me lol...but it seems normal. Full a bit quicker but that could be lack of appetite...like when your sick. Plus I know I have some major sinus drainage going on due to allergies being SO bad this year - so that might be helping fill me up quicker. The hunger appears normal, and I'm satiated easily - just not interested in general. Right now, I know I should eat - can feel the rumbly in the tumbly and it's that time, but trying to convince myself to go in the kitchen, stare in the cupboard and eat SOMETHING just is frustrating me. Ugh.

I am not posting from my experience, I have none. There is a friend I have that is the most normal eater I know, and I use her as my nuts-o-thinking gage. She told me once that she actually finds eating a chore. Most of the time. It is something that just has to be done. That for her food is rarely entertainment and mostly about staying alive. I think that is normal. Because every fiber in my being went "WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY!?" I know I dont eat normal or I wouldnt need wls and be 250 pds. So I figure that type of thinking is what I am shooting for. Who said food is entertainment? Usually fat people has been my experience.
