It wasn't my heart..............Friday I went into the hospital for the table tilt test and after failing miserably, come to find out all I need is a tiny little pill called Flodorcortizone(spelling?). It's to Raise my blood pressure and Make me retain water. Yes...you heard right. I still don't understand it all but it has something to do with everytime I get up from laying down, my heart speeds up(like everyone else) but my already low blood pressure(always had low pressure) drops even lower, which doesn't allow my heart to pump enough blood to my brain, then add to the equation, being dehydrated (which I thought I was doing extremly well with getting in my fluids). So I've been on those pills now since friday and I'm back to my old self again and also gained 3 pounds of water.(lovely) Just what I needed. I already had gained 10 pounds that I was gonna try to get back off again, now I have to deal with gaining water weight too, from the pills. Oh will....at least I feel better now.

Kim, well that's good new that it isn't a heart problem. I hope you feel better, try not to stress over the water weight at this point, get to feeling better and then you can discuss with your PCP or surgeon if the meds are going to continue to cause water weight. If you were dehydrated, that could be the cause of the 3 lbs right now. Dana

Wow, I've never heard of that. I'm glad its not your heart. I'm sure the water weight will level off once your body has adjusted to the med. Good Luck! Tracy B 328/152 5'9"

I was diagnosed with the same thing in December. 3 pills a day and I am ok, (Midodrine). Neurocardiogenic Syncope, or VasoVagel - interchangeable terms. I used to pass out because of it. Compression stockings help, and keeping hydrated is very important. I also salt my food often. If you ever need to talk about it - I'm here!
