Iron Vs Blood Transfusion

I see many of you talking about iron transfusions. What is the difference between that and a blood transfusion? I occasionally have to get blood transfusions, because my iron is low. Just wondering which was better. Sharlene

Sharlene. I am not sure there is a difference except what part of blood, like just the platelets or whole blood, I just dont know, but the infusion i had to day was a brownish red color.. Donna

I have been getting iron transfusions for three years. Iron transfusions contain no blood products so there is not of diseases associated with blood transfusions. I see a hematologist and he feels they are the best for WLS patients.
