Revision questions.
I would not poke fun at you. It is now clear to me that you really did not understand what is being undertaken with a revision. A revision is not like touching up after painting a room. A revision, following the paint analogy, is more akin to tearing down the house and rebuilding it. I concur with the others. 20 pounds, while not catastrophic, is a problem that merits your attention. Perhaps attention is all that is required, as in, paying scrupulously close attention to what you are eating, both in quantity and quality. Get out the paper and pen and start writing it down. That you were able to get to the 5 year mark before stumbling a bit indicates that your foundation is in place. Take a few steps back and try to pick up the tune again.

Not trying to get on a pedestal here, but I must remind you that it is vital that you always follow the rules of your surgery as if you were 1 week post-op. I speak from experience about what happens to us if we fail to obey the rules every day. I am a 14 year post-op non adjustable gastric banding, and I let my pouch stretch over the last 11 years by not following the rules. I gained back much of my weight, with all the neat little maladies that obesity causes. I had to re-train myself to follow the rules and eat only 2 oz at a time, and not drink and eat at the same time. The good news is that it's pretty easy to get back into the swing of things.( I did and I'm on my way back down now). You must pay close attention to the amount you take in. If your pouch is stretched, it will shrink back down over a few weeks. The rules differ between the types of surgeries, but the golden rule is constant, don't over eat or over drink. Als, be mindful about sugar and carbs. Eliminating sugar in all forms and eating low carb will get you where you want to be. Hope this helps.
OK,OK....WHat is this fit day you all speak of and where do I find it? Also where would I find a list of high proteins (blec)....I eat a lot of salad.......but pretzels are probably my downfall, I eat a lot of those. I don't eat a lot at a time, however I do graze alot....I can't eat alot of meats......so other means of protein are necessary. Thanks for all the input. Sharlene

Grazing seems to be the problem...not the need of any type of revision (just based on what information you have given here).

Hi Sharlene:
It must be scary to gain back 20 pounds after 5 years of success. (I'm 5 yrs out with a Band). There is a revision board here, and maybe some people there can tell you about distal-rny revisions. I know that sometimes they add a Lap-Band to people who've had the RNY, if their pouch has stretched. BUT, before you go that route, why not try Weigh****chers or seek out a nutritionist. It's much easier to check in to weigh****chers with 20 pounds to lose vs. 200. Also, hop on over to collagevideo.com and look for some exercise videos.
Peace.
