I watched a show on Bravo last night about WLS surgery and it said regain is highly probable unless patients are diligent. One positive note is that there is a greater chance of maintaining weight loss with WLS. Studies have shown that folks that lose weight with diet and exercise alone have a 90% chance of gaining back the weight. There was a man who weighed 1200 lbs and lost 900 of it with Richard Simmons. He gained all the weight back within 36 months! Okay, diligence is the word for me!!! Have a great day!! Denise

I watched some shows last night on WE channel called Super Size Surgery. Probably not the same show. Man, those programs are very sobering aren't they? I haven't had my surgery yet. It's a lot to take in. I'm still determined to do it though, even after viewing the memorial page. Yeah yeah.... I know... bad idea.

Hi Brenna: Having the surgery was the best thing I've ever done for myself. You're wise to look at all the aspects of the surgery, including the risk. Would I do it again... in a heartbeat!!! My counsel to you is once you do it... do your absolute best to follow the doctor's instructions 100% especially in the first 6-12 months... that's when the weight falls off the easiest. They operate on our stomachs and not our brains. Those same demons that make us eat before the surgery return after the sugery. Learning to fight them in the beginning with the help of reduced stomach size is great, however, as time goes on, you're able to eat more. If you've tamed those demons in the beginning (which is easy at first), you'll be in great shape after 12 months. Keep me in the loop on how you're doing. I know you'll do great!!! Denise
