3 years post op....Supplement questions...
Hey people.... I'm hoping someone can relate..
I'm 6 weeks shy of 3 years post op. I've done a great job down 163#'s and loving so much more of life...
My delima. My OB/GYN is trying to help me control my bi-weekly periods. Now I no longer actually bleed but do have all the other symptoms. Spotting, cramping, tender breasts, terrible mood swings... Cry alot and so on.... Well she had me start a Probiotic supplement, Omega 3 fish oil and Progestrone cream. She did blood work to check my thyroid, adreline glands and harmones so I should know next week what if anything she finds. I've been like this for 3 years now.
My eating this week seems out of control. I'm craving carbs/starchs (french fries, tator tots just junk) and I'm not able to make myself say no. I cant eat the stuff it makes me miserable. But I eat it anyway.
Can it be this new supplement regime? Can it be just in my head? I really dont want to gain any weight back and I'm really worried.
Please let me know if you are or have been in my boat?
Terri 303/140
Year 3 is when my weight gain started so keep an eye on it....I'm not to keen on fish oil for omega-3's but if it is an emulsified oil you have a better chance of absorbing more of it. Twin Lab has an emulsified one. I like the flax seed for my omega's also. Not the whole seed but the ground seed.
Good luck...

Thanks Darlene. I'm scared about gaining any of it back. (I already gained 12 pounds but no one thinks it's a bad thing. No one has told me lately I've lost too much or that I look ethiopian.) I tried flax but it made me too gassy. I've gotten a variety of protein snacks including bars which I have not done for over a year. I'm eating the right things again. Terri
I have had similar problems, we determined through lots of medical testing that my B-12 and iron levels were low, I now take B-12 shots and iron, as well as am on the ortho evra path, to regulate my periods and hormones, the regular pill for of BCP's was not working since I was not absorbing them normally. I also have PCOS, and so far have done very well on the patch. Since it is absorbed through the skin instead of through the stomach/intestines, I have become very regular. Good luck, I hope you feel better soon.
Mary Kate, Thanks for the info. I'm on 150 mg Iron and B12 shots once a month. I should hear from them soon about the hormone results. I know something is not right as I have started to bleed which since my thermal ablation is not normal. I asked for BCP's but she said no since we have tried them in the past. I'll suggest the patch...
