Have you met Goal and Hungry?

Hi Pat, I too have experienced more hunger lately, I sure miss the first 9 months I had post-op. I freaked out a couple of weeks ago because I felt like a bottomless pit and my mind started playing the pre-op games with me. So, I tested my pouch....I grilled a 2 1/2 oz piece of boneless, skinless chicken and that was my dinner. I ate the entire piece but should have stopped at about 2 oz......that told me that my pouch is still working....the types of foods I was eating just weren't the best to fill my pouch and keep me satisfied. I am refocused on eating lean meats more....I've upped my water to over 120 oz a day which is keeping my mind off of food 24/7. I had gotten to the point I was thinking of food when I woke up and until I fell asleep. For me, the extra water is helping. As Sandy said, could be an ulcer giving you that nagging feeling of hunger, I had uclers as a teen and remember that feeling. Good Luck! Dana

I never got to my goal...but I don't think my body will let me get to that magic number....I have maintained for 6 mos at the same weight. Up and down a few pounds but manage to get back to 209. I would love 150 but I am happy where I am for the time being. I eat alot....Compared to some of the menus I see on the site....I would die eating that little of food. I do about 1 1/2 cups per meal. I do 4 meals a day...I never could get the six the Dr wanted us to do. I just thought I was eating too much with 4 meals. I don't graze. If I feel hungry then I drink first....after 15 minutes if the feeling is still there I eat. I have gotten myself on an eating schedule so my body is looking for foods at certain times because of my routine for all these months. So if I go past 10AM for second feeding I am starving. Perhaps you have developed a eating time for your body and you are going past that time..... Debbie

mama Taffy here, DX, don't let that person bother you in the least. For a pre-op, she knows everything there is to know about everything you could possibly bring up on a message board and if you disagree, you will suffer her acid tongue (oops, I mean fingers.) I have recieved a few very, VERY rude emails from her. Then she blocked me so i couldn't answer her back. Cowards do thngs like that ya know? I can't wait until she has her surgery and joins the whining masses.

I am close to where you are..14 months post op. You have to really consider what you are eating. I have to say I am still very neurotic about my food, and what goes in my mouth. I always was. I weigh and measure virtually everything I eat. With the exception of when we go out to dinner and I have to "eyeball" it. But I can easily eat 3 oz. of protein and what seems to be a GIANT salad. And I will tend to get alarmed at what I can finish. But think...salad chews down to virtually nothing. Frozen dinners such as WW and Lean Cuisines which I RARELY eat, because of the sodium, have so much water in them. I can easily eat one which are 9 to 12 oz of food, because there is so much water in those dinners, that they really aren't 9-12 oz. For example, the other day I made two slices of canadian bacon, and 1/2 cup eggbeater omelet with a generous scoop of leftover peppers/onions/mushrooms, and it made this HUGE omelet on my plate. I scooped on my salsa, and thought, I'll never finish this. Part of this is it looked HUGE on my small plate, which I still use for my meals, but I did fini**** and it was far more than 1 1/2 cups. But as I was thinking and chewing I was vaguely paying attention to the consistancy as I was chewing, and realized everything really chews down to nothing so by the time it reaches our pouches, it isn't really the amount that we scooped into our mouth. That being said, I did finish the whole thing, but was not overly stuffed, but pleasantly satisfied, and it held me over for the rest of the evening. I also will have a 4 oz can of shrimp and make my own dressings and have this for lunch, and this leaves me satisfied for the afternoon. So I think it's really what type of food you are putting in that pouch.

My doctor calls me an oddity. I never feel hunger or full. It's crazy. I still eat by the clock and very much in a routine. I tried to keep some of the weight I gained and it seems to be slipping away. I don't know what to tell you. kp
