HELP I have tried every other avenue I can find for an answer to this problem with no success. I am almost four years post op. I, and other friends of mine who have had the surgery, have the terrible gas problem.....(if you have it, you know what I mean.....it is the most rotten, horrible odor you can imagine, and extremely embarrassing). I have tried eliminating foods, Devrom, charcoal, Pepto Bismol (supposed to eliminate odor), and am now even considering colon cleansing, (which I hear is not generally accepted by the medical community and considered quackery), but I am DESPARATE. I have not been on this site in awhile and decided to turn to the experts. ANY ADVICE/HELP/GUIDANCE/RECOMMENDATIONS appreciated. God bless you folks. Joanne Donaldson [email protected]

Joanne, I know you said you've tried eliminating foods, but the only thing that works for me is to cut milk and most carbs. When I only eat protein & green veggies - no gas! Good Luck, Tom

I have been using Innermint which seems to have worked well. I purchase it online through Amazon.com. From other posts on this subject, Splenda appears to be a culprit, and I notice when I use too much of it it does exacerbate the problem. Good luck.

You know.....you may have something on the Splenda. When I eat it a lot, my stools are real soft. hmmmmm THANKS Tom

I am 2 weeks post op and had 10 popsicles last night. I had horrible gas and sure enough, the pops have splenda. oh....never again...I agree, it may be the splenda. Thanks all!

try using beano. My Dr. gave me this advise right from the start and believe me, it has saved many friendships!
