Question: Protein Train
Several months ago, several people here were on the "protein train".. (How to break a plateau) diet.
I save the instructions but I have a question.
#1 Do this for 10 days to break plateau
#2 Drink 2 quarts of water a day
#3 You must have 45 grams of protien supplement and all your vitamin & mineral supplements each day
#4 you may consume up to 3 oz. of the following high-protein foods, 5 times a day:
? beef
? pork
? chicken
? turkey
? lamb
? fish
? eggs
? low-fat cheese
? cottage cheese
? plain yougurt or artificially sweetetened,
? peanut butter
? beans/legumes
You may also have:
? sugar free popiciles
? tea or coffee
? sugar free sodas
? sugar free jello
? broths and bullions
? crystal lite drinks
#6 IF IT IS NOT ON THE LIST YOU CANNOT HAVE IT FOR 10 DAYS
#7Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 minutes of exercise daily.
What do YOU mix the protein powder with?
Gina
PP,
When I do use protein powder,
Which is not daily at all,
I mix mine in with yogurt or refried beans, or chili, etc...
I use the unflavored.
I have also enjoyed the Strawberry flavor
In Yogurt and even Oatmeal as well.
Most of my protein comes from eating fish,
Chicken, cottage cheese and eggs.
Do try the mixing it with yogurt.
It's great. If you have trouble with it clumping?
Or tasting chalky? Try this-
Take your scoop, (or actually only ½ scoop)
Of the powder and put it in a coffee cup or small bowl.
Get a fork,
And slowly drip some cool water into the powder while
Stirring with the fork.
Don't try to just add the liquid.
Attempt to make a very thick paste.
Once you've got it into a thick paste
Then slowly add more drops
And stir some more until you get a thinner paste.
Keep this up until it is the same consistency
As the food you want to add it to.
By not having "liquid" per se,
The powder can't clump up
And hang onto "bubbles."
Even mixing this up ahead of time
And keeping it in the fridge
Is good.
Then just take out how much you want
And stir it into your food.
I have great success this way
Adding Protein Powder to-
Yogurt, Soups, Oatmeal, Smoothies, polenta, etc...
It really helps going into shakes/smoothies.
You don't get that "foam" on the top
That, no matter how long you run the blender
Just stays forever.
It also gets rid of the "powdery" texture
That can hang on otherwise.
This works for me!
Hope this helps you!
Best Wishes-
Dx
Hi Lynda!
It's good to be back! My old computer is now in its final resting place and I was finally able to purchase another one (one that I was willing to fork the money over for AND was happy with, that is ).
Alexis is doing great! I plan on posting some pictures of her as soon as I figure out out to download them from my digital camera to my printer/copier/scanner...definitely NOT a computer guru here. LOL Joshua is another story...he came home from school with the Chicken Pox Thursday; so, I guess he started summer vacation one day early. So much for the Chicken Pox vaccine the he received when he was one year old, huh? I'm pretty sure that Alexis will be getting it soon, too.
How have you been?
~~Sherry
Oh--Poor Joshua. Chicken Pox are miserable--hopefully it is a weak case because of the shot. The shot came out when my kids were older and they never had the chicken pox--at first they were not recommending the shot. My daughter got the chicken pox while in hs (a pretty mild case--or maybe it just seemed mild because I was away when she got itand then my son got the shot. I can't imagine a baby getting the chicken pox.
That is great news that you were able to get a computer. I had to get one last year when my other one crashed--ya know you would think I would learn a lesson about backing up stuff--but I still don't. I used to be a computer guru--now I just don't take the time. I have found though that putting the computers on picturetrail is pretty easy. My computer has a card reader--love that.
Take care and look forward to seeing you around.
