Has anyone experienced numbness in their arms since WLS? When I sit to drive or type and that roll of skin moves forward, my arms, hands, and fingers go numb, and my fingers turn blue. The Dr. says Thoracic Outlet Sydrome, but I just have a gut (no pun intended) feeling it REALLY has to do with my extra skin hanging from my arms.

Also, how are your other B levesls - B1, B6? They can also exhibit similar symptoms. Sandy

I'm having blood work done again in 2 weeks, but I do B-12 injections every 2 weeks, and chewable multi-vitamins twice daily. Thanks for the input. Rachel

Rachel see if your doctor will order lab tests for your B1 Thiamine and your B6 levels. Our population has a history of being deficient in B1 especially and it can cause all sorts of havoc with the body. I have never had a problem because I also take a stress B complex and a B1. I had to add the B1 and reduce the complex because my B6 runs high. Your B12 injections are for B12 so would not be covering the other Bs. Hopefully your doctor is also checking your iron and ferritn levels since iron deficiency can mess with us too. When I have my labs done I use a list of suggested labs that was developed by long term WLS grads and my lab draw is 12+ vials every 4-6 months. I track a lot of stuff via Exel to watch my trends. You can see the list that I use at www.acdlady.com/WLS_Labtests if you are interested. I can send it to you in word format if you wish, just email me. Sandy

Rachel, What makes you question your Doctor's diagnosis Of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome? Has he prescribed Physical Therapy for posture correction? Posture adjustments in association With extreme weight loss are very common. The excess skin could be aggravating posture problems That cause the TOS to flare up. One does not at all rule out the other. Just curious why you think he may have "missed the diagnosis?" Best Wishes- Dx
