Terry,
I'm not sure about Texas (my home state by the way)
But, In Mississippi Vocational-Rehab has also been a financial source for some.
If financing yourself is remotely feasible,
Also try some of the Medical financing organizations-
http://www.vabfn.com/
or
http://www.capitalonehealthcarefinance.com/
To set it up on a payment plan.
Cheaper than payments on a used truck.
Also try dropping a Line out on the Texas State Local Board at-
http://obesityhelp.com/forums/TX/
Hope it all works out for you!
There's always more than one way to "Shrink a Cat!"
Now, all that said,
I wanted to drop by an Invitation.
It's great to see other men out here.
We make up such a small percentage (12%)
Of the people having Weight Loss Surgery,
But tend to reach our goal weights quicker and with less
Or at least Different hassles than the Gals
Due to Male physiology.
Drop by the Men's Message Board
And check out what other men like you are going through.
It's a diverse make up of Dads, Singles, Older, younger, etc...
Pre-Ops, Post-Ops new and some Old (at Goal) Post-Ops.
Lap-Banders, RNY'ers DS, etc...
Great bunch of guys with the mutual understanding
That WLS, for Men, can be a totally different Journey.
Stop by to add your questions, advice, opinions, and info at-
http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/men/
A number of the guys there have overcome insurance denials
And gotten surgery.
It's Great to know we're not so alone,
And that there are others pulling for you.
Hope to see you 'Round the Boards!
Best Wishes-
Dx
Hi Terry, I was a self-pay for WLS, my policy had an exclusion put in by the insurance company because of the number of employees in our company. Is the exclusion you have set by the insurance company or your employer?
Have you spoken to your HR Dept? Sometimes an exception can be made and approved by your employer, I'd try that route first.
There is the Texas Vocational Rehabilitation that could possibly help you. I do not have the number handy but as Dx stated post to the Tx Message board and see if someone there has that information.
Best wishes,
Dana
