UHC - choice plus information help !

Hello..I am new and in search of anyone having had to go through a clinical review with United Healthcare Choice Plus approval. HELP...I need this surgery so bad and have tried 3 times prior to get approval back when UHC made it an exclusion. Now, I dont know what to think about this clinical review mess. Anyone have to go through this with them ? Linda

Yes, I am right now..... UHC is sooo slow at this process... My doctor even had them expedite it ... and still no reply ! But, they did tell me that it is excluded unless there are other medical problems (other then obesity) which i guess they dont recognize as a medical problem... Hummm go figure !!

...yes UHC is slow, but keep trying. They came through for me. I started my surgery preceedings back in Feburary (took approx. three months). They really took their time, but the only delay I had from UHC was they wanted to know if my surgery was in-patient or out-patient (DUDH). Anyway I was approved even for the Lap Band. As soon as I was approved, I made my appointments.... had my surgery one week ago today and have lost 10lbs. Hang in there. :-)

Ladies I wish you all LUCK going through UHC --I have them also through hby jobs and they DENIED me its an exclusion they say and for no reason will they cover WLS rather its medical nessary or not is what I was told and I even had a lawyer write them a letter and still NOPE. SO I went through a state prog here in FL called Voc Rehab they help you if you have health prbls that interfer with your job,and mine did but yes it did take me about 3 yrs with them to finely get the state to cover it. I had to appeal them and do WW for 1 yr then I appealed them again and that time I asked for the Judge to make a choice and Thank God the judge was on my side. I was finely approved by the judge in July 04 and I had my WLS Nov 15,2004 and I have done great. More on my story abt that with my profile here. So ladies I really do understand how UHC can jerk you ard. I will be prayen for you that you have a better chance then what I did. Margaret
