Hi, everyone! This August I will be 2 years post-op. To date I have lost almost 110 lbs.(although, at one point my total was up to almost 125 pounds lost), but I still have about 25-30 lbs. to go to reach my goal weight of 140-145 lbs. Within the past 8 months or so, I gained almost 15 lbs., primarily due to the fact that I started eating sweets again. I still work out at the gym with a personal trainer, but I admit that I have not been watching what I eat as closely as I should or doing cardio. as much as I used to. I am committed to reaching my goal weight, though, and have been desperately trying to get back on track. Is it possible to still lose weight this far out of surgery? Sometimes I wonder if your body reaches a point where it hits a comfort zone and plateaus - for good -! Someone mentioned a "plateau diet/eating plan" in one of their posts. I'd be interested to hear about it. Any words of encouragment/advice/information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Tracy, I believe your body can hit a comfort zone and plateau for a while, a long while, but bottom line is as long as the calories in are less than or equal to the calories out then you will lose or maintain. Keep on working out with your personal trainer and get back to doing some cardio. Journal every bite of food you eat for a while and make sure you're not taking in some extra unwanted or unnoticed calories. It's been said that the average american underestimates their caloric intake by about 200-300 calories. Make sure you journal truthfully because really you hurt no one but yourself by fudging. Get your protein first and drink your water. My father lost all of his excess weight on sheer willpower and he's over 50 years old. You can still lose the rest of your weight. It's just a matter of how bad you want it. Good luck! Lily

Thanks for thewords of encouragement, Lily! I'm going to try keeping a journal of what I eat throughout the day. I'm willing to try anything at this point to get back on track, because I truly want to reach my goal weight. I didn't come all this way for nothing....right? Tomorrow is a new day! Thanks again!!!

Your surgery date is very close to mine -- August 11. I did reach my goal, but the last 30 pounds were hard, hard work. I upped my exercise and watched every bite that went into my mouth. It felt really good to get to goal and have a normal BMI for once in my life! I got down to 142 at my lowest, but I didn't look good at that weight. 150 looks better for me, so make sure your "goal" weight is realistic for you. I haven't been as good the past month or so, and I need to get back to the gym. I guess I had hoped the "magic" of the first six months would continue always, but hey, it's badk to those pesty essentials -- diet and exercise. Good luck...I know you can do it! Joni

Hi Tracy. We have the same surgery date! I lost approx. 121lbs. I've put on about 8 pounds and need to get it off too. I haven't had a period for 2 months and did a couple of pregnancy tests, but they all came back negative. I don't know if I have weight gain because of the pre-menstrual thing or just my snacking, which I have been working on to control. I've put a call into my Gynecologist to see what he suggest. Can you believe it's been nearly 2 years? Cathy
