Just had my blood tests done one year out and found my white blood cell count is low. Is that a common result of bypass surgery/diet?

I'm curious about this too. I have not heard of it, yet with my yearly lab work my WBC's were critically low. I went to the doc and he said "well it's because you are sick". I said, "ummm... no I'm not". He said "you aren't?" I said "no". So he felt like I had some sort of virus with the only symptom being fatigue. He ran a mono spot and it came out negative. I'm supposed to be re-drawn this morning. I will be watching for your responses. Dawna

I have the same issue. I reported it to my WLS doc and supposedly he's looking into it. I've tracked my blood test results since before surgery and the WBC has been slowly decreasing over this time -- has gone from 5.2 to 3.4. If there's anyone out there who isn't tracking your test results, start. They can tell some interesting stories. Neither my PCP nor my WLS doc caught this -- I had to point it out. Deb

I don't know if it has any relation to my low wbc count, but my heart beat is also really low (around 45) and I have restless leg syndrome. Anybody else have this combo? Other than that I am very healthy; never get sick (I'm knocking on wood), have lots of energy, and run around 12 miles per week, so the virus theory appears to be off mark.

In addition to the low wbc, my heart beat is very slow (around 45) and I have bouts of restless leg syndrome. Other than that I'm very healthy, lots of energy and never get sick (not even colds) (I'm knocking on wood), so the virus theory is a bust. I run around 12 miles a week. Any of you have these other symptoms as well? I see my wls doctor on Friday, so I'll see what he says.
