Help! I have not lost anything in 4 month. I have had alot of problems with dumping until recently. I can't eat heavy proteins, they make me throw up. So I eat little things all day. Lots of salads with small pieces of chicken, shredded cheese, almonds, croutons etc. I am really trying to drink at least 2 protein drinks per day. I don't know what else to do. I have lost 103 # and nothing for the past 4 months. Any ideas, please help. Pat

My first suggestion would be to try to calculate how many calories you are actually getting in a day. You could be getting too many OR too little. Either cir****tance will stall weight loss. You might also talk to your surgeon about checking your stoma to make sure that you do not have a stricture causing the difficulty with heavier proteins and thus forcing the grazing. There can be other health reasons behind why someone stops losing early. I stopped at 12 months because my thyroid function is decreasing (hypo) so I understand the reason. I have to really watch what I eat, but because of hypoglycemic issues I cannot get below 1700-1800 calories a day. It is not fun and I will probably never reach my normal BMI goal range. Sandy

I don't do protein drinks. I think they are fattening and unecessary (for me). tee

I'm in the same place you are. I'm 17 months out, haven't really lost anything since November, sitting at -103. I made no changes to my diet, was consistently eating around 1200 calories per day, protein first, then green veggies and fruit, standard WLS diet I followed since surgery. On a few days, but not often, the calories are higher, up to 1500 to 1800 per day. Most days, I faithfully chart what I eat. When I mentioned this to my surgeon at my December visit, he said "don't worry, the weight will come off". I have an appointment with him on 6/2 so I'm curious to see what he says then. All my labs have been completely within normal limits. B12 was higher than normal. I have no difficulty consuming any food, so I don't have that problem. I usually stayed with chicken, turkey, shrimp, other fish and green veggies, small salad for each meal. Over the last month or so I've been grazing more, eating foods that I wouldn't have looked at 6 months ago. That feeling that "I'm not losing anymore so who cares what I eat" has become very prevalent in my life. Since the weight loss stopped, I feel different. I feel like food hits my system and just sits there. I'm tired, can fall asleep at just about any time. I had my thyroid checked last month, as my hair has started to thin noticably over the crown, but my TSH is low-normal so that says I'm adequately compensated by my Cytomel and Synthroid (perhaps even slightly over compensated). My PCP also repeated a lot of lab work, and all was normal. I should be gettng more exercise than I do, have a job where I sit at a desk. I had to reduce my exercise time as I've been visiting the PT office regularly trying to avoid rotator cuff surgery on my shoulder. Last year my attempts to increase exercise led me to PT for tendonitis in my groin/hip/thigh area. I think I'm back to how I was before I had WLS--can't lose weight unless I avoid most of the carbs, consume mega-levels of protein. I've not made an appointment to go talk to my nutritionist, maybe I should. Sorry, I don't have much help for you, but you aren't alone. Sue O.

Hi Pat I am also in your boat,I had my surgery 1 year ago this month and I haven't lost anything in 2 months. My doctor said my body hit a platoe. He said I should start losing again when my body get used to this weight. It is very upsetting to be dieting and exercising and not lose anthing. He said that when your body loses so much weight it starts to fight you to keep some of it. He suggested to me to eat different foods and to exercise at different time. I hope that helps Lisa
