I have not had my surgery yet but I am going to start back walking. Walking is great exercise and I use to do it everyday but lately I have not been doing it much at all. I will change that starting this evening. I am going to get back into the routine of walking.

I have begun to walk everyday. I started last week and now am doing 1 1/2 miles. I am walking in the rain and I don't care. I have gone from 317 three weeks ago to 293 today and although I haven't had surgery, i do have a stomach problem that is limiting my intake of foods for now. I LOVE WALKING!!! I have a large recreational lake in my town and find that if I miss that morning walk I am in a bad mood all day!~~ Love it love it love it!!

Hello everyone, Im a walker, and I just love it. I walk every morning very early like 6:00 am. I walk 2 miles sometimes 2 1/2 not adding all the walking I do during the day. anyhow I walk sometimes 7 days a week but most times 6. I feel great afterwards and feel that walking is relaxing and also that you can meditate and cure stress.

On September 20, 2003, the ASBS Foundation will present the first annual nationwide Walk From Obesity - a fundraising event designed to reduce disability, death and discrimination of people who are obese by educating the public and healthcare professionals about effective treatments. In conjunction with the Walk From Obesity, this website will be updated regularly to serve as a major educational tool. This nationwide non-competitive walking event will bring together participants of all ages from throughout their communities. Walkers raise money by asking friends, family and co-workers to sponsor them. In addition to walker income, funds are raised through sponsorship, matching gifts, corporate contributions and other fund-raising activities. The funds raised through this event will support the ASBS Foundation's educational mission by: Improving obesity awareness and reducing its associated discrimination Increasing public education about this devastating disease Increasing professional education concerning effective treatments of the disease Increasing research funding specifically for severe obesity Each Walk will be a fun, non-competetive event held on a course between 1 and 3 miles long. The Walk From Obesity is fun and flexible. Each community walk can adapt the program material to its own design, abilities and needs. This walk is for everyone -- participants can be young or old, active or non-active, thin or obese. Click on the map below to find a Walk near you! The Walk From Obesity will raise funds in cities across the United States. The organizational structure of this event will begin with individual surgeons and their patient support groups working with the Foundation's regional walk coordinators to tailor each walk to their specific communities. Groups interested in organizing a walk will choose a volunteer walk event leader. It will be his or her responsibility to recruit a pyramid of other volunteers. Each event leader will receive a detailed information packet explaining how to organize a successful Foundation Walk. Any organization interested in becoming a walk event leader should contact: Bryan Woodward, MPH, LCEP National Coordinator [email protected] Susan Champion, BS Eastern States Coordinator (770) 425-5525 [email protected] Barbara Metcalf, RN Western States Coordinator (805) 379-3307 [email protected] For questions, suggestions or comments regarding this website, please contact the Site Administrator.

Here I am! I try to walk every day except Monday's. I alternate 45min 2.5-3mph and 1hr 2.5-3mp (treadmill). I luv it some days, while others, I absolutely hate it. The hardest part is to get started but once I'm up and moving, I'm good to go!

Say! Where's all the walkers??? I'm certainly not the only walker on AMOS!? I love walking and consider it better for depression than my Prozac. Anyone want to go walking?
