Topic: Question about treadmills...
I'm having open RNY on 7/19. One thing I'm thinking about is how to increase exercise after surgery.
I'm thinking about getting a treadmill... it would need to be a folding model, because I haven't got all that much space... and it would need to be able to hold me. Right now, pre-op, I'm over over 350# now...
Does anyone have a recommendation on a good treadmill that fits that bill...
Thanks much...
Michael

I started mine back up about 2 weeks ago. So far so good. Hopefully, we will get more activity on this forum.
Topic: Is anyone starting their beautiful summer walking program yet????
I just found this board and found that no one has wrote for June yet...so here it goes....We are always being told how important exercise is before and after surgery...I still think walking is the best because it helps you relax also.....I love to walk outside but as most people are...I do my walking at my health club on a treadmill.....Being around other people makes me try harder and keep going...The one I go to here in Naples is great.....It is small and no one makes fun of me...There are about 6 ladies there and we are all living large and the only time anyone says anything about us exercising is to tell us......."you go girl!!!" The rest of the time it is just being nice and telling us good morning or talking to us when they are beside us.....The people there are all very nice and I try to go everyday even if it just to walk...You do everything at your own pace and as much as you like....If I have a question...It's the first time in a long time that I wasn't embarassed to ask something because of my size....That is why I keep going.....they are so friendly and no one makes fun of me....Let me know how your program is going....Janice
Topic: RE: hi everyone!
Hi Kay! My sister and I usually go walking 4 miles a day 3-4 times a week. It has slowed down this past month due to the fact I had foot surgery on April 7th. I am getting better and now have gotten back up to 3 miles. We (our family) also does Taekwondo 3x a week. My husband is a brown belt, four of our children, my self are orange belts and my youngest son is yellow belt. I am trying to keep busy when I am not working. I wish we had a lake to walk by. We usually with my sister's laborador. She is totally hyper! She loves the water! She will pull you even if you do not feel like it, which is an encouragement for us. We try to take her every time we go. She even starts jumping high when she sees me pullng up in the driveway. Happy Walking! I got to fix supper for our 5 children

Kay Dee, I love walking too. I used to walk 5 miles in the morning and 5 miles in the evening before I had my surgery. I hope to work my way back up to that eventually.
