I took off to do my 'long' walk. I realized I forgot to take water. I'll just stop and buy some, right? Wrong! I also forgot to take any money! After thinking a bit, I decide to walk up to CVS and turn around and go home, that is 1.25 miles one way. I'll get me a drink and walk it again. Five miles will be fine for the day. As I am headed home, I start thinking (Oops, I never should do that!) My back is hurting, the wind is blowing me all over the place. I know when I get home, I will never leave again. I am already beating myself up. I get home and there is no way I am going to go walking again. I am really feeling like a loser, wondering where my drive has gone. About 30 minutes later I start feeling bad. I take my blood sugar and it is 63. What if I had been 3 miles from home, no snack, no money and low sugar? I guess some things are just meant to work out the way they do. Lesson learned: Carry water, protein snack and a couple of bucks when you go walking. TODAY: 2.5 TOTAL: 30 REMAINING: 25

Today I logged 1.64 miles which leaves me 9.38 miles left for the month of February. I can't beleive I have already walked over 20 miles this month. That is DEFINATELY a record for me. I hope you are feeling better Seven.. it IS a good thing that you were at home when your sugar went down where you had snacks available. I hope tomorrow is better for you. Have a great day Anna

Woohoooooo! Look at you go! I am so glad you are sticking to it. It feels so good to get closer and closer to your goals! I feel fine now. It happens now and then. Doc said to always keep a protein snack around. I guess I should follow that advice! Seven

Good advice !!! I did a mile today. I've been doing shorter walks lately -- mostly because of the weather. Jewels

The weather? You mean it is not 80 degrees there too? Maybe we should work something out for visiting each other in winter/summer. My house Dec-Feb, your house July-Sep. What do you think? Seven

WOW, that could have been a bad situation. Glad it turned out OK for you. I'm always careful to wear my medical alert braclet while I walk as well, just incase I just drop!!! lol I'm not feeling the greatest, but I did get in and walk 2 miles today with my 3lbs hand weights. Laurie

Hi all... I pushed myself quite a bit. I walked with a friend around the neighbohood, about a little over a mile, I'm guessing. Then I got on my treadmill and went 3.25 miles. So...that takes me to 4.25 miles for the day...the most I have ever done! I had done 5 miles before today, plus today's makes 9.25 miles. My goal was 20 miles, so that leaves me with 11.75 to go. Woo hoo!! Seven- glad you weren't away from home with low blood sugar. That could have been really bad. You're doing great! Take care, Kerri

Great lesson learned! I'm glad that you didn't run into a health emergency. We've all been there though. It really stinks when you're working out/waking and forget your water. I go to a gym (Curves- I love it) but I keep a six pack in my back seat so I can just grab one on the way in. You may even want to sit some by the door or atleast have a post it note up. I'm very forgetful so I practice these techniques reguarly. I'm so glad that I found this board. It's a great way to hold yourself accountable. Good luck to you all!
