Walking alone again
I am training for the Houston Marathon and for the 1st three months, I was walking alone and was okay with it. Then I found this great walking partner who lives just around the corner from me and we have been walking together for a little over a month. She is great for me! She has been dependable and motivating. However, she had been having some pain in her shoulder and neck the last few times we were together and the doctor told her today that she has arthritis in her neck. She won't be walking with me again for a while and maybe not forever. I am going to miss her so much. I am going to try to find someone else to train with, but it took so long to find her, that I don't see it happening. I just feel discouraged and selfish -- after all, she's the one with a condition that will effect her for the rest of her life. Seeing this in print has put it in better perspective for me. Thanks for listening!

Becky,
Not that this will help....but bank on your own efforts. It is difficult when you are depending on someone else to motivate you.
I walk daily and enjoy burning my own CD's with motivating music and an upbeat tempo to keep me pushing the limits.
Try music...it can do wonders for the work out!
