BMI under 40

Hi, me again with more questions!! My BMI is 38.8 and I will be a self pay. Generally will surgeons refuse to do the surgery if you're under 40, or is that more of an insurance requirement? Thanks, AC

I'm not sure about doctors here in the US, but I'm having VGB with Dr. Kuri in Mexico. My BMI is 36 (no comorbidities - yet). It seems pretty absurd to have to wait until you reach a BMI of 40 or wait until your health deteriorates significantly before you can have surgery. I would think that at 38.8 your BMI (like mine) is going nowhere but up without surgical intervention. Barb
