Anyone with Exclusion policy approved for reflux reasons?

Just curious if anyone has had success in convincing their insurance company that they need gastric bypass instead of fundiplication because of obesity? My GERD is getting harder and harder to control and I really need surgery, only I weigh too much to get the normal surgery. Regence has an exclusion policy for any wls so I don't know what to do. I just got a notice on Wednesday that I am getting an external review on Monday. I am nervous, but hopeful. I am going alone so I hope that I don't get stage fright. Tammy

ok. i may be a little late, but ( i have an exclusion) my surgeon is going to apply for surgery to help cure my sleep apnea, and depression. My payient co-ordinator said they have had much succsess. Mo exclusion for treatment of sleep apnea. she said something about a new code insurance uses. Good luck Elsa
