Good News

I have been so down in the pits about having Group Health and everyone i had talked to said more than likely wouldn't cover the wls. I called them directly on friday and asked them to look specifiically at my policy and double check to see if my employer had an exclusion, to my surprise nopers and she told me first had to meet certain criteria ( co morbs) which I think i do have--- sleep apnea (test scheduled for july) I see my orthopedic specialist tuesday also have had gall bladder removed and various have proof of various attempts thru WW etc--even was on phen/fen. Now I have an appointment with my PCP on June 4th. I have never brought this up with him before and it will be my first time asking him about it. I am more nervous about that than anything, but am trying to prepare myself and going in very informed.

Hello, Because I had no notable co morb I had to go thru alot of test so if you are other wise healthy prepare yourself for alot of test, don't be alarmed because of the phen-phen you will probaly have to go to the heart Dr and have stress test done along with some others don't worry much about that I failed every heart test and had to have a heart catheter done which we found out that my heart was enlarged due to being overweight (1st co morb) second I found out I had sleep apnea, good luck with your venture I hope evrything works out for you. Hi, I have Group Health and got approved, they pay but they make you wait about 6 weeks to get the approval. My surgery is scheduled for 7/15/04. My comorbids were sleep apnea (never been diagnosed, just know i have it) joint pain, gerd. nothing major like high blood pressure or diabetes, so i was worried too. Keep your chin up..YOU WILL BE APPROVED!!! Good Luck.....Paige

Whoa! Congratulations on your approval. Can you please tell me who your PCP is and which G.H. office you go to? I just got my referral submitted ( ( my doctor's office basically said that I would be denied, but I asked them to try any way, he is very supportive so he did). I seem to be just like you as far as I don't have any Major health problems, Except that I have the joint pain, asthma,gerd and migraines,and infertility. They told me I would probably get denied 'cause I don't have the big 5 illnesses that they are looking for. When did you apply? Please email me I am really couious to hear you.
