King 5 announced new study on GB

Anyone here that they had a new study on the news today regarding Gastric Bypass. It said that 1/50 GB patients die within one month of having the surgery. What happened to the 1/200? That number was a bit scary when I heard it this morning while I was still laying in bed watching the news. I know the risks of any surgery, blah blah blah, but I am just saying that it was a wake up for me this morning. I am scheduled for February to have my surgery, and no number will stop me. Just wondering on your thoughts about this.

I wouldn't look at their stats, go by what your doctor does, if people use doctors that aren't experienced in this field they are more likely to be the 1/50. Don't look at what the news is always feeding us. Take care

The report said that 1/50 die "depending upon the experience of their surgeons" Dr Flum, who was the spokes person, is my surgeon. He makes very sure that you know the risks and really consider the surgery before you go ahead with it. Marj
