Hi I am post op, for years now, 2002, and I have a friend who is thinking about surgery.  When I had the surgery you had to be a 40 BMI, she is at 35.8, is there a chance she could have it done with her current BMI? Anyone had it done with similar numbers?  Thanks so much

Usually to qualify for WLS you need to have a BMI of over 40 OR over 35 with 1 or 2 co-morbid conditions.... diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea,  heart disease or weight related arthritis.  You friend should call her insurance company and see what their "rules" are...

I hope this helps...
