I just got an email from the RN at Group Health telling me that I am now on waiting list ... and the class we have to take first before surgery won't happen until January..... and I am saving money for Accomplish .. have to pay first before they can give me a date...

I also have mammogram today at 3:30!

It is starting to feel real!!! GOSH!!!!

So I have a feeling that my surgery won't happen until early 2009... hmmmmm

BTW, surgery of choice is Lapband

246 in Dec 2008 before banded 1/28/09 at 215 lbs, band crapped 9/09 at 170 lbs and struggled with it and regained to 203 revised to bypass on 8/1/11 and am very happy.

Hi there! Have you visited us on the lap band forum yet? There are an awful lot of great people over there and we'd love to support you and answer any questions you might have. Best of luck on a speedy surgery!

Hi...

I have a friend who is changing to GHC in January... since now her company is offering WLS.

How much is the Accomplish program? and How long did you have to wait to get to see the surgeon or get in to the program?

Thanks for any information....

Helen

Hi Helen.  Accomplish is 1450 ... for a year.. it s manadatory per GH.  But for those on medicare, it's optional (lucky them).

I saw my pcp end of May to discuss it.. he submitted to insurance... approved a few days later... got an appt with the case manager on August 12th.. then had series of tests to do, blood test, 24 hr pee collection test, breathing, chest x-ray, mammogram, sleep study and psych.  I just finally completed mammogram today, the last test!

I also have GH...lucky you to have been approved, I was not (our plan didn't cover WLS).....I was also told the other day by our HR rep at work that GH is going to be doing away with their WLS all together.  Just thought I would pass that on.  Good luck though, that is awesome!

I delivered 6 weeks early a 5lb 15oz lil boy:)  After spending 2 months on bed rest in the hospital and Mason spending 11 days in the NICU, we're both home and doing great!  Mason is getting bigger and gaining weight like he should.  Now it's my turn to lose this weight!  It's tough to get back on the band wagon...I CAN do this!

I don't think GH is doing away with this... where do you work?  Maybe she meant that your employer will not cover the WLS?

I work for GH myself and I will find out.. that's odd.

I work at Horizon House, in Seattle.  I'm not sure, the way she told me she understood they were.  I know she really wants and needs WLS....it's too bad.  It could be that HH won't pay to have it added.  That would be a shame since we are a health care facility.
