Couple questions...

So, I'm only three weeks out but the surgeon said since I was doing sooo well that I could start trying soft foods... he said I could try whatever I wanted, just chew 25-35 times and understand that some thing WILL make me sick... NOTHING but protien sups have made me sick!  I have tried everything... so my two questions: I'm afraid eating this early is dangerous.  I'm not having problems keeping food down, nothing has made me sick, I've tried beef, chicken, ham, eggs, potatoes, pasta, a chip, I've been fine... but is eating at three weeks post op bad, did anyone else advance faster than normal? I can't keep the protien sups down... that's the ONLY thing that makes me sick.  I've thrown up twice but when I take them (ALL kinds, I have literally tried EVERYTHING) my stomach CRAMPS so bad for about 20 minutes!  I don't want to loose my hair, but I haven't had any protien sups in three days and feel better!  Is that normal, could something be wrong w/ my stomach?

Thanks...

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you get your protein drinks in!! Call your Dr. it sounds like something is going on!  Good luck Merrilou

A lot of protein supplements are made with milk products.  Could you be lactose intolerant??  See if you can try a soy one.(trader joes has one) As far as soft foods goes I have seen people who are days out doing the same thing just remember to measure out your portions as the nerves in your stomach have been cut and you don't want to hurt yourself by accidentally over eating. Good luck!!
