I was just wondering if anyone else has had the surgery without the pre op bowel cleansing? I was told not to,but I always have heard from everyone else that it is standard. I was just told don't eat anything after midnight the night before your surgery. Does this sound wierd to anyone else or is this normal for some doctors to do??

I had to do the bowel cleanse, but I have heard from numerous people that their surgeons don't think it's necessary.

Dr. Sebesta doesn't require it either...you'll be fine!  Lucky for us, huh?  I've heard that bowel cleaning can be very uncomfortable! ~Annie

Bowel cleansings are awful!!!! be glad you don't have to. I think that is why some surgeons require the liquid diet before. if you not sure then just do a 1-2 liquid diet, if nothing else it will help shrink the liver.

Glad I didnt have to have that. Doesn't sound like fun. Pre-surgery diet for me was high protein low carb diet (like atkins). However I had the lapband so the prediet may be different.
