Hello fellow Washingtonians, I am researching Lap Band surgery in Mexico due to my insurance not covering any type of surgery. Have any of you had a Lap Band in Mexico? If so, who was the surgeon? Also, were you able to locate a physician in the Pacific Northwest who would do follow ups and/or fills for you after you came home from Mexico? Thanks everyone!

Yep!  I had mine in Mexico with Dr. Rumbaut and Dr. Fox's office in Tacoma does my fills and check ups.  He is moving his office to Auburn though.

I'm not opposed to Mexico nor am I affiliated with his office but Dr. Steven Tersigni has been offering lap band and RNY specials in Coos Bay, Oregon.  Here's a link to his site:  http://www.baybariatrics.com/.  You can even fly down to North Bend.  That's an adventure.  I know that, at one point, he was charging only $10,000 for lap band (I don't know what that may have included, though). I also know that quite a few Mexican bandsters have gone to Dr. William Neal for their fills:  http://www.pacsurgical.com/. I can't help out too much since I had my surgery at Good Sam with Dr. Jan (so you know I'm not profiting by mentioning either of these two surgeons). I'd just like to suggest that you do your research and definitely have your aftercare prearranged BEFORE you go to Mexico (or out of the area for that matter). Lori

I don't know much about the Mexican docs, but you can visit the lapband board and they're very knowledgable.  They'll tell you which ones to stay away from as well, which is always good to know! I know my doc does fills now for patients that he didn't band.   Washington Bariatric and Weightloss Center.  http://www.valleymed.org/services/bariatric/default.asp

I childproofed my whole house, but they STILL get in!

I had my surgery in Mexico at a cost of $7500. by Dr. Daniel Huacuz, he's great www.huacuz.com. As for the aftercare I see Dr. Heap in Richland and Northwest fill management in Arlington.www.northwestfills.com  I live in the spokane area so Dr. Heap is the closest for me but I have a business based out of Sumner so I use NW fill when I'm over there.  FYI Dr. Fox is not taking any new patients. Also When I was checking around Dr Trotter in Spokane takes mexico patients.  Best of luck and DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE GOING.
