You may need to try to find a great gastro or a great bariatric surgeon that may help you.

Having VSG and gastroparesis may cause number of issues you are dealing with.

Some people get converted to RNY type procedure to (removing pyloric valve) to help with stomach - sleeve emptying.

I had RNY but I deal with small intestines low motility, and it could be a challenge. Right now (last few weeks) I have been issues with food not going through, just staying in my intestines, and causing severe headaches. I would eat for 1-2 days, then next I try to get my bowels to move, just drinking liquids, taking things to make things move along.

I have IBS-C and I had that before my WLS surgery, but it was noting compared to what I deal with after the RNY.

Maybe some nerves had been cut, or something got messed up due to multiple abdominal surgeries I had since RNY, or my SIBO and Candida got really out of control.

I lost my family too... brother, mom and dad. That is why I have been drinking. Oh man, and the sleep issues are horrible!!!! Sounds like our experiences are parallel and I need to just power through it. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and I hope we both get back down our "normal" weight! I'm sorry for your losses too!

While I am sorry to see that you are going through this, I am 8 yrs out after losing 112 lbs and in the last two years since my Dad and then my husband died, and now my Mom died last October, I, too, got in the habit of having a glass or two of wine every night to "help me sleep". I didn't sleep any better so for me that was just an excuse. Depression is real and unfortunately it is also real that alcohol is a depressant. So, here I was, 40 lb weight gained back and ashamed of myself. Three weeks ago, I finally picked myself up, dusted myself off and started cutting alcohol and carbs. I am down 8 lbs and intend to get back to my healthy weight. I have been swimming and walking for exercise (did I mention I hate exercise?) but I am committed to being an example to others again. And I give myself a little pat on the back after I exercise. I am not going fullbore on the exercise because I am in my early 60s and anytime I do that, it becomes a job instead of way of burning a few extra calories (EVERY little bit helps!) My older brother had VSG surgery based on my success. He is doing well, but if nothing else, I hope my weight gain keeps him in check. Make sure you are getting protein and vitamin E for your hair loss. The best advice I can give you is you made this decision so you could love yourself. Keep that thought in mind and love yourself again and live your best life!

Topic: RE: VSG Regain: Overcoming eating my feelings

After weight loss, you have a tiny stomach that is satisfied with a tiny amount of food. But that baby stomach grows up and becomes an adult. So tiny amounts of food no longer are satisfying. Getting back on track often means to try to eat like you did when your sleeve was new.

To me, this is like asking your adult son to be content with a bottle of baby formula. My plan has to include foods that satisfy my hunger and that I enjoy eating.

The secret now is to eat like your sleeve is an adult. My rule for controlling my weight is to allow 10 calories a day for each pound I weight. So to maintain 120 pounds, I need 1200 calories a day.

To maintain 150 pounds takes 1500 calories a day. 300 calories is not that much extra food. But it makes a big difference on the scale and how your clothes fit.

Find a way to track what you are eating and you will soon realize what is causing the weight gain. My Fitness Pal is free. Weigh****chers is expensive. Both have helped me a lot.
