Topic: Seven years post-op update

I had a sleeve ten years ago. 325 -> 245. No complications and much improved health. Then I started gaining again, slowly, but back up to 325 as of one year ago today. Then I started 16/8 intermittent fasting and reducing my carb intake. Now, I'm full keto (under 50g of carb per day). Back down to 260 (1 pound per week) and feeling great about my progress and the trajectory I'm on.

The reason I'm here is because I just wanted to add to the conversation about people that have failed on their surgeries. For me, I've found the answer after all this time. The low fat high "good carb" diet is exactly wrong for me and I suspect many other people too. I was worried about high LDL when I should have been worried about insulin, A1C, HDL and triglycerides. IF and Keto got me off the high blood sugar roller coaster.

It wasn't easy ... at first. But now it's a "piece of cake."

Dr. Jason Fung or Dr. Berg would be good places to START educating yourself if you want to consider this path. Search YouTube for free info. Good luck and no I don't have any other motivation but to help people who are struggling with their weight.

Topic: RE: How long after your pre op exam was surgery set?

I think it depends on the office. I had my consult Sep and am scheduled for Surgery Jan 7th. I was trying for Dec because of the deductible but she was too busy. My coordinator put me on the books before my last nutrition because I had some work changes and needed it to get done sooner. They were very understanding. good luck!

Topic: RE: First Consult

Hello! I am new here but it is taking me a total of 4 months. I had my consult in Sept 19. Oct 1st started my 1st nutrition class (I need 3 total). So I have only my Dec 3rd apt left. I completed a mental eval, cardiologist, EGD and PCP apt already. From what they told me I just have to complete the Dec 3rd and they will submit to my insurance company. Lastly I meet with the surgeon to get the final clearance next week. I have BCBS and I understand everyone is different.

Welcome. Just keep in mind that the tool doesn't work on auto-pilot. You need to own the changes required. Congrats on deciding on the surgery, but what else will you do differently afterwards. Pay attention to the vets here and identify what long-term successful people are doing like therapy, weighing and measuring food/recording, food logs, putting protein first, limiting carbs significantly, etc... I thought deciding to the surgery was the hardest thing I'd have to do. Now I realize what's hard is the work required everyday to stay healthy. It's so worth it, but you'll see a pattern in success and failure here on OH. Life can get in the way, so how you build your support system around you will help you weather what life throws at you. I wish you the best. Good Luck!!

try searching online for big and tall ?s stores and plus size men's compression wear. Even ladies wear would work and who's gonna know. There is way more available than just amazon

But after reading your comment i dont think that will be right for me. Thank you. Are you talking more like Spanx or whatever they are called my Fiancee has mentioned. I just woke up and saw your reply so i haven't looked on line yet. Thank you for the reply.

yes like spans. There are many brands.

You will need to get the very largest brand you can find,so they will be comfortable as well as supportive

after looking at the link, no , this short is not going to do what you need it to do. .

It did not bother me. I mixed it in with my tuna and mayo sometimes. Everyone is different though.
