Hello all!

I'm 4 years out of VSG surgery and have right side pain, not in my stomach but my actual side, it's like a dull ache that comes and goes. Does anyone have this going? The doctors can't find anything wrong. They try to tell me it's a pulled muscle, well it's not. I've had this for over a year now. I've had ultra sounds and x- rays, nothing. Please help..... thank you!

Do you still have your gallbladder?

Before I had my revision surgery in 2015 I was getting a dull on and off pain on my right side. After numerous tests my surgeon did one with a dye substance and that showed sludge build up in my gallbladder. During my revision surgery he took my gallbladder out also.

Thank you so much Ladygodiva, no I still have my gallbladder. You think that's it? It is definitely on my right side, dull ache, comes and goes. Bugs me so much. Not excruciating but it's annoying. I believe you are correct. I've had tests done but they couldn't find anything. Can you tel me what procedure that was exactly with the dye? It started over a year ago and has gotten a little bit worse. I wonder if it's just in my head that after going to the bathroom, the pain lessens for that moment/ for a while.

It was like this. Not sure of the medical name. If I remember correctly it took a couple of hours to complete and felt kind of weird nothing bad just odd feeling.

Hello,

I believe the scan you are referring to is a HIDA scan. I had that procedure many years ago to find out my gallbladder needed to be removed. The scan showed that the gallbladder was 29% functioning. At the time of surgery it had quit functioning. So it was a good thing I had surgery or it would have been on an emergency basis. My symptoms felt like I had a golf ball sitting under my right breast when I was sitting.

Good luck, take care.

Yes it was a HidaScan. They said they didn't find anything wrong. Maybe it was functional and that's all that they looked at and figured it's ok. Not looking at the percentage of function. Sometimes I wonder if the technician that writes the report from the scans/ x rays knows what they are talking about. I'm going to have another one done or get another opinion from another doctor for more tests. Thanks so much!!

I complained to the Dr about the pain and vomiting for over a year. One day I couldn't stop throwing so I went to the ER. Had to have my gallbladder removed ASAP. They had done testing 1 month prior and had told me it was all in my head.
