It's official...
How exciting! A few last-minute bits of advice...
- If you weigh yourself after surgery, you will find you have gained weight! This is because they pump you full of fluids. This excess weight will go away in 5-10 days, and then you'll get to watch the pounds melt away.
- Many people go through a period of regretting their decision. This is absolutely normal, and doesn't mean you've made a mistake in having surgery. The feeling will pass.
- Constipation can become a very annoying problem very quickly. Drink lots of fluid (aim for 2 litres) and take any stool softeners they give you.
- After surgery, get up and walk as soon as you can. This will reduce the risk of blood clots, and help with gas pain.
