So I had a scary moment last week. After eating a small meal suddenly I had a sharp pain under my right breast that radiated to my stomach. After being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance as I couldn't breathe the pain was so bad they determined it must have been a gallstone. Now when I had an ultrasound it showed 2 small gallstones remaining. Has anyone else had this happen? They told me as I've lost 108 pounds quickly that this was most likely the case.

It happens to a lot of us. Get the gallbladder out. It is a quick and easy procedure and will not get better on its own.

I have heard that most ppl who do have wls usually get their gallbladder out either during wls or right after. I got mine out in March 2017 after I had my wls in 2012

i was sick as a dog and I went emergency room and they said it was my gallbladder so I have heard a lot of wls having the surgery

It took a few years, but by the time the gallstone attacks were fairly frequent, I had around 25 or so when they removed the gallbladder. I was allergic to ursodiol so particularly high risk.

Large weight liss is a common culprit for gall bladder attacks, whether you've had WLS or not. If it needs to come out, get rid of it.

Hi there- I had my sleeve in 2011. In May 2018 I had what was determined to be a gall bladder attack- had a couple of stones like you do. I decided to try to manage it as, with the sleevfe, I do not eat a lot of fat at once and I was not sure . it had truly been my gall bladder.

Fast forward to Saturday- a year almost to the day later I developed intense pain in my midriff area along with horrible pressure. This ER visit found pancreatitis, which was caused by a gallstone getting into the pancreatic duct. Thogh it had passed I knew this time I faced more of the same- couldn't know when...but I faced the music and had my gall bladder out on Tuesday.

Sadly the truth is VSG causes a tendency to gall stones due to rapid weight loss and having regained some weight over the years I had lost rapidly again in 2018- hence the stones then.

I know two stones is not a lot but it only takes one to do a lot of damage. Pancreatitis can be really serious- even fatal.

Good luck to you!
