Vitamins??
So I have tow weeks til i have my vsg surgery and I was given a check list of vitamins to start taking. I went to the store and I was overwhelmed on what ones to take that are genuine and one that are "fake." Can anyone tell me what ones have helped them? I of course will try to go for the gummy ones or the liquid ones if I can find them. I was advised to start taking them about this time to get ready for having to take them after surgery.

Right after surgery, I took the Costco Women's Multivitamin, plus 2000 IUs of Vitamin D (because I have always had low vitamin D levels - doc prescribed the amount) and a calcium chew twice daily. I also added biotin.
Now, 2.5 years later, I use Costco Gummy Vitamins and take a separate iron supplement, the same vitamin D, potassium (because I have issues with bruising) and magnesium (helps with headaches and sleep). My program told us any multi would work and in fact recommended Flinstones Chewables for the first few weeks, just at double the dose a kid would take so that this way you didn't have to swallow a huge pill.
Keep on losing!

There's no reason to go for gummy or liquid vitamins; you should be able to swallow pills right after surgery, though you may have to split them into smaller pieces.
I made up a list of the ASMBS recommendations, which you can check here:
You should be fine to meet your requirements with a generic multivitamin like Centrum or the drugstore equivalent, plus additional calcium and iron.

So you don't take chewables? I had been taking one (Centrum Chewable) prior to surgery and now trying to chew and swallow is killing me. I liked the taste until a couple of weeks ago, now I can barely stand them! I still haven't taken them today...I just keep looking at them...disdainfully!

Nope, I've never taken chewables! I take the regular Centrum pills, a double dose (two pills) every night. For the first week or two after surgery, I had to use a pill splitter to break them into quarters and take each piece separately with a tiny swallow of water, but after a couple of weeks I was OK to take larger pieces. :)

They definitely do, which is why it's nice to be able to take the regular multi's. Walgreen's does a lot of BOGO free specials, so I get two bottles of 300 pills for a total of ten bucks. Way cheaper!

My program did a 2.5 hour class mostly on vitamins, it was hell! They recommended Optisource chewables from Walgreens (also available on Amazon), but what I really want to share is they were very strongly against gummies. I am not sure if it was just after surgery or long term. Good luck!
