Just got my surgery date and wigging out

I've been waiting weeks since my insurance authorization to get the call for surgery, and they gave me the date of February 5th! I'm excited to not have to wait very long, but now I'm having those panic-y thoughts thinking "This decision is forever. Are you SURE SURE?" I overthink everything all the time. If I'm this anxious now, I can't imagine my anxiety going into surgery the day of?? Do a lot of people have those thoughts? Is it normal and you just find a way to push through it knowing that this time next year I'll be thanking myself for the best decision I ever made?

Feeling a bit jittery is perfectly normal. I was a bit nervous too, but the whole thing went much more smoothly than I expected. This thread may help you.

I "do" remember wondering if I had made the right decision and knowing this is it! What helped me was..... I had to think about all the yo-yo diets I had tried, all the weight loss programs I had tried and the many years of being obese. I had to think about what the obesity was doing to my body and health. I had to think of all fun I was missing in life by being obese. I had to say,,, this is it!! I am changing my life! I am doing this for ME! (always put my family's needs first) I am so glad I had my surgery! It was the best gift for myself! Yes, it is normal to get the jitters before surgery but think of yourself and what you have been through. Come back to OH..... there is a lot of support here!

pre-surgery doubts and jitters are *really* common. And yes - you'll be thanking yourself big time a year from now!

Even if you're a bit scattered having just gotten such great news, by surgery day you will probably be qute calm. -= You're ready for this! Best decision I ever made, and wish I had done it sooner.
