Always measure liquids in volume...so you're pureed items (which are now liquified) would be by volume. Everything else would be weight unless your surgeon/nutritionist instruct otherwise.
This is such a great question! My sample menus from surgeons office are constantly going from oz, to tablespoons, to 1/4 cup. And it crosses liquids and solids. I have an appointment coming up on the 9th and can't wait to get clarification!
